Spring break is over. Students go back to school.
WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE OUR MISSION! During the spring break, I went back to China right away and heading towards Yunnan, where the school is, to deliver all the love and donations from everyone. The school looks great (Thank you government for providing them a place to study) and the environment is beautiful. However, the people are poor with run down houses. When you look out from the school building, which is on the top of a mountain, the scenery is filled with green and blue. The green mountains and the blue sky. It may be beautiful, but it also looks like a well-build prison where the wild mountain range blocks them off from the outside world. Students there have to walk over mountains to go to school. To make it easier for them, dorms are build for students and teachers to living during weekdays. During the visit, I went to the girls dorm to talk with some Grade 1 students. The condition in the dorm is bad. A tiny room with 16students living in it and 2 kids have to share a 1m*1.5m bed with only wood underneath the quilt. Some children shown me their little wooden box where they put all their clothing and other things and there's only one change of cloth and some plastic bags. I don't know who started, but the students start to tell me about their family condition. Only 7-8 kids, 6 of them are living in a single parent family or no parents at all. Their parents either deceased, left to work, or divorced. The fundraising event, Food Festival & Charity Sale, was a big success! We have raised over $4000 funds! This terrific result comes from all of us working together, do our parts and supporting each other. Here, I would like to thank Jeff, the volunteer coordinator who helped and supported us and make it all possible. I would also like to thank all the ECA staffs, volunteers and members from Go Help Go who are so kind to sacrifice their own personal time to contribute to this event! Thank you very much! Of course, we cannot forget all the people in the community who rented a booth and the ones to came to pay a visit. You all make this event possible and successful! Here I would like to congratulate everyone! The event is such a big hit because of your love and contribution! Here I would like to announce a big news. In March, during the spring break, the Go Help Go members are going to travel to YunNan to pass all the donations and our loves and caring to those children to help them gain confidence and help push them forward on the path of chasing their dream! Thank you everyone! Thank you very much! THE WORLD IS BEAUTIFUL BECAUSE OF YOU! *Want to see what we have done in YunNan? Please continue to follow us on Go Help Go's website. All the updates will be made and shown in the website as soon as possible. Hello everyone!
October 22nd is just around the corner! This Saturday, at Edgemont Community Association, Go Help Go set up a fundraising event. (10am-3pm) We have varieties of original Chinese foods and many beautiful hair accessories. There are also a charity sale which is able to take part of the event because of all of you who donated the items to this event! This event is fun and purposeful! We hope to see you there! Fast development, rich materials, and wealthy lifestyles are, undoubtedly, the global impression promoted for today's China. However, within the remote region of YunNan China's mountain district, bearing an elevation of over 1300m, there is a place called DaChoushui Village. The villagers' annual income is barely $200. The folds of mountains cause them to be isolated from the rest of the society. Because of poverty, many of the parents are forced to travel beyond the mountain's borders in order to earn a living. Because of poverty many parents pass away due to the lack of financial support to seek treatment for diseases, thereby leaving the lonely children to be cared by the elders. Investigative reports probing into the YuTang School suggest that every class has at least 7-8 orphaned, single-parent, or stayed-behind children. The broken-down collapsing mud-brick houses are all they have. the children's living conditions can only be described as existing for the mere sake of existence! The Chinese government has already taken many positive measures to enhance the children's educational experience. They build the schools for them, provide them free textbooks and allow them to attend 9 years of compulsory education. However, many children drop out to do farm work because they do not have the financial support to purchase stationery or afford transportation expenses. They do not have any knowledge about toys, modern gadgets such as I-phones and they definitely do not know that there is something called the internet in the world. Under the same sky, they, too, have a heart longing for knowledge. They want to comprehend the outside world. They wish to learn and they earnestly pray for a better future. Love is a universal language. Let us give a helping hand. Maybe just one less beverage, one less hair accessory or one less lollipop, even if it's only one dime or one dollar, will bear the weight of your love to create a sea of hope that will allow the children to have more courage and confidence to chase their dreams. "Go Help Go" is a charity club organized by a group of Churchill students, using our caring actions to influence others to contribute for the sake of caring and charity . Ever since December 2015, when the club is first initiated, the club members have been gathering donations in varieties of ways with our personal times. In May of 2016, a huge fire hit Fort McMurray; in order to help them, we donated over $2200 through Red Cross. Today, we are in conjunction with the Edgemont Community Association, to set up this fundraising event - "Food Festival and Charity Sale for Children". The purpose of this event is to gather donations for the children, who are lack of financial support, in DaChouShui Village, YunNan. Here, we would like to thank everyone who supported us, thank you for your generosity and contributions, thank you for all the organizations who participated, thank you for the volunteers who sacrificed their time to help out, and thank you to all of you who come to join us in this event!
